L-3 Communications Electron Devices

The name of L-3 Communications Electron Devices is synonymous with the design and production of defect-free, high performance, cost effective microwave power devices and switches. These rarely visible, but critical devices are found in the most technically sophisticated radar, communications, navigation, and medical equipment. L-3’s klystrons and thyratrons are found the world over in accelerator and laser applications. Building on its foundation of design innovation and one-on-one customer service, Electron Devices has revolutionized the TV broadcast industry with the development of the Constant Efficiency Amplifier (CEA). This same technology and innovation is being directed to power the future requirements of the scientific community with the High Power Inductive Output Tube (IOT), the Multi-Beam IOT and the Multi-Beam klystron. The IOT is an efficient, compact UHF power amplifier tubes that has an excellent record in TV broadcast and high power versions of this same technology are proving to be an excellent alternative to the traditional klystron for accelerator applications.
