Numbers of installed units:
MEBT: 2
DTL: 6
CCL: 2
SRF: 6
HEBT: 5
Ring: 1
RTBT: 5
Minimum requirements:
Operating modes: MEBT, DTL, CCL, SRF, Ring and RTBT commissioning; troubleshooting;
nominal. (See beam modes definition page.) For operating with unchopped beam
the pulse width is assumed to be no longer than 1ms. The system will provide
a droop of 0.1%/ms after signal droop compensation and baseline restoration.
Peak beam current range: 15 to 60 mA in the MEBT, DTL, CCL, and SRF; 15mA to
60A in the Ring and RTBT.
Bandwidth: 5 MHz.
Current measurement accuracy: ±1%1 of full scale
Current measurement resolution: ±0.1%1 of full scale
Aperture radii: 35mm in MEBT 12.5 mm in DTL, 15 mm in CCL, 36.5 mm in SCL, 50
mm in D-plate, 100mm in HEBT, Ring and RTBT.
Update rate: 4 Hz.
Each BCM pickup and each electronics module must have a unique serial number
on it.
Target requirements - minimum requirements as above plus:
Peak beam current range: 15mA to 100 mA in the MEBT, DTL, CCL, and SRF; 15mA
to 100A in the Ring and RTBT. Reduced performance1 at the lower currents.
Bandwidth: 7 MHz.
Update rate: 10 Hz.
Minimum minipulse length: 300 ns.
Sample given point(s) on given minipulse for given range of minipulses. Permits
averaging of data pulse to pulse.
Maximum acquisition rate for duration of several (~10) macropulses.
Auto test feature sufficient to check out cabling to pickup, and connection
through control system to user interface (expected to be exercised during inter-pulse
period). Data stored for request by control system.
No electronics in beam tunnel.
RTDL/event link monitor for timing.
Data sent to control system should have a date and time stamp for each data
point, accurate enough to specify macropulse.
Raw data output available on command, at reduced update rates (~1 Hz).
Desired requirements - target requirements as above plus:
Maximum acquisition rate for duration of entire macropulse with circular buffer
storage sufficient to store a minimum of 60 macropulses (~1 sec.).
Notes:
1. Full scale depends upon the channel gain selected. The maximum sensitivity
of ±100mA for MEBT, DTL, CCL, SRF, and HEBT will be used as a single
constant gain setting. The gain setting will change dynamically with the rising
current in the Ring and RTBT to a minimum sensitivity of ±100A full scale.
Gain will be changed during the "gap" time and data could be lost
during transients (transients expected to settle in less than one turn).
2. The sampling frequency has not yet been finalized. The ability to sample a given point will be within the resolution of the sampling clock period (with a maximum period of about 32 ns).
