Minimum requirements:
Operating modes: Commissioning;
Studies, troubleshooting;
Operational (nominal).

Beam current amplitude: 15 to 60 mA Chopped and unchopped (Linac).

Beam current width: Sub-µsec (partial mini-pulse) to 1 msec macro-pulse.
Macro-pulse chopped at ring revolution rate of ~1.07 MHz. Mini-pulse width ~ 695 nsec.

Pulse repetition rate: 1 - 60 pps

Electronics Bandwidth: DC - 50 kHz.

Electronics Gain: Programmable by channel, ____ levels during macro-pulse

Upper end loss limit: Linear response for 0.5 % beam fast loss at single point

Lower end loss limit: 10% resolution of 1 W/m loss at 1 Hz bandwidth

Pulse Identification: Date/time stamp sufficient to specify macro-pulse.

Timing: Timing settable within macro-pulse with sub µsec precision.

Update rate: 1 Hz - Long-term, low level loss (each detector)
1 Hz - Standard losses (each detector, total loss all macro-pulses)
6 Hz - Detailed losses (10 detectors total, 100 µsec resolution)

Beam Inhibit Capabilities:
Fast Loss: 10 µsec Detect-to-Beam Inhibit time

Identification: Each BLM detector and each electronics module will have a unique serial number. A bar code shall be assigned and applied by ORNL.

Calibration: Each BLM detector and electronics channel shall have a measured and archived calibration .

Packaging: No electronics in the tunnel.
Minimum of 4 channels per analog module.
Maximum of 32 channels per analog crate.
Data acquisition uses VME environment
