What We Do
We operate HFIR and SNS as basic scientific research facilities that are open to scientists from all over the world. Our goal is to achieve excellence in science by providing unprecedented capabilities for research using neutrons. Such research allows scientists to better understand the structure and properties of materials at the molecular level.
Studies conducted here go beyond basic research and development, however, and are leading to technological advances that will benefit the scientific, business, and industrial communities.
