Accelerator Physics meeting minutes 10/10/2001 Present: J. Wei, J Galambos,M. Doleans, S. Danilov, S. Aleksandrov, E. Tanke, S. Kim, D.Jeon, J. Holmes, P. Chu J. Wei showed the new ASD organizational chart highlighting the new commissioning areas with Sasha Aleksandrov, E. Tanke and S. Henderson with lead roles of responsibility. The proposed DOE talks were reviewed, and a new ASD approval process for procurements (requiring accelerator physics approval signatures) was reviewed. There was a discussion on the status of the discrepancy between the LBNL and LANL calculated beam distributions coming out of the MEBT. There is no apperent resolution yet (LANL calculates broader tails). This will be pursued at the upcoming commissioning video. There was a discussion on the LOrentz detuning issue, and JLabs consideration of using piezo electric comensatio. Kim explained the alternate adjustable capacitive solution, using fast phase shifters. This will be discussed at the upcoming video with JLab. The critical correctors that can cause damage if not operational (and hence machine protected) need to be identified. Y. Pappaphiloppu is looking at the Ring, D. Raparia is looking at the transfer lines, and D. Jeon will look at the linac. There is a question as to how many full pulses the device can take as a function of energy (Shafer's note on this issue will be looked at). The parameter list needs editing, and will be looked at by everyone, with Wei and Galambos collecting the changes. The front table will be reformulated to more easily communicate emittance and ecceptnace throughout the machine. A "holy lattice" will be constructed for the entire machine, and will include all the diagnostics, correctors, and other beamline devices such as RF, collimators, targets etc.
