Minutes of the Accelerator Physics Group meeting 11/8/01 Present: J. Wei, J. Galambos, S. Henderson, J. Holems, S. Danilov, S. Cousineau, S. Aleksandrov, D. Jeon, E. Tanke, P. Chu. A. Shishlo, N. Catalan-Lasheras, Y. Papaphiloppou, M. Blaskiewicz J. Wei mentioned that the performance ratings of the AP group in general were good, and that reflects the good hard work that the group has done. The DOE review appears to have gone well, some AP issues that may be raised relate to the front end emittance and the issue of collimation in the low energy end. There was little apparent concern with the ring issues. The request for an integrated dry run was raised, and appears to be a good idea - it is not clear how well this is presently in the plans. Also the DOE committee apears to desire remote operations. S. Henderson reported that the ring power supply specs are done. The next big step is to construct a holy lattice with proper names and all the devices. S. Aleksandrov will go to LBNL for RFQ commissioning. S. Kim is examing the cavity transient effects. 100 Hz detuning appears to be the residual transient detuning even with piezo compensation on a 50 micro-sec. timescale. D. Jeon is looking at the effect of emittance measuremenbt noise on the MEBT-DTL matching scheme. J. Holmes is writing papers on the transverse impedance work. Andrie Shishlo is looking at python interfaces to simulation codes. Slava has finished the closed orbit instability work. It should not be a probelm for SNS but may be for VLH like applications.
