Minutes SNS Accelerator Physics Group Mtg. 2/27/02 Present: J. Galambos, S. Henderson, S. Cousineau, E. Tanke, S. Aleksandrov, D. Jeon, S. Kim, M. Doleans, P. Chu, A. Shishlo, J. Stovall, T. Pelaia, E. Tanke Dong O gave an update on the Korean high power linac project. This is a waste transutation effort using a 100 MeV 10 mA proton beam. There are iongoing R&D efforts (working ion source and RFQ) and plans for possible future upgrades to 1 GeV. S. Danilov described the laser stripping concept he is working on. It involves using a high field magnet to strip the outer electron (with a small spread in emittance), then using a laser at the appropriate angle to excite the other electron to n=3, and to use another high field magnet to strip the excited electron. T. Pelaia noted that he has written a correction algorithm, and has exercised it using the virtual accelerator. S. Henderson is working on getting the HEBT magnet locations directly from the transport code. D. Jeon is looking at phase scan signature matching methods for CCL tuning. Initial results look good.
