Accelerator Physics group meeting, Jan. 25, 2001 Present: Jie Wei, Sang ho Kim, Marc Doleans, Slava Danilov, Jeff Holmes, Eugene Tanke, Paul Chu, Dang O Jeon, John Galambos, Tom Shea Jie discussed the project status and the upper management changes taking place. Our group should continue focusing on the work at hand. Last week he met with B. Siemann and J. Stovall. There is a need to make our presentations with a better focus on the context with respect to the global picture. The specific problem needs to be introduced before delving into specifics. The presentations need to be understandable by others (e.g. engineers). Members of our group doing linac calculations should work more closely with Jim Stovall. Eugene will help with pencil beam calculations, Dong O is working with Jim on DTL commisioning ideas and Marc / Sang ho will keep in touch on ideas to check the applicability of parmila for off axis cavity studies. Tom Shea noted that input is needed from the diagnostic group on accelerator physics requirements, such as instrument accuracy. Also, input from the engineering applications is needed. For ASAC, Sasha will present a talk on the MEBT, emphasizing flexibility. The removal of the emittance measurement device was discussed. Eugene will study the pencil beam aperture studies of the DTL. Marc and Sang ho will study the cavity misalignment sensitivity with Jim Stovall. Also, several group members (Galambos, Jeon, Tanke and Aleksandrov) will attend the commisioning workshop.
